The WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway plugin has announced an exciting update this week, which will have implications on your online store.
The plugin is going to be enabling the Klarna extension. Klarna is a payment options that provides buy now, pay later (BNPL) and other flexible payment solutions for online and in-store purchases. It allows customers to split payments into instalments (e.g., pay in 4), pay later (usually within 30 days), and more options.
This will be automatically enabled for a promotional price when the plugin gets updated to Klarna version 9.7. Businesses offering Klarna receive full payment upfront and can see up to a 14% boost in revenue.
Here’s what to expect:
With version 9.7, Klarna will be enabled at a promotional rate of 1.5% + £0.20, matching your standard UK card pricing. This rate is valid from 22 July to 23 October 2025.
After 23 October, Klarna pricing will return to standard rates:
- 2.99% + £0.35 for DACH and Western Europe
- 2.99% + £0.35 for the Nordics
- 4.99% + £0.35 for the rest of Europe
You can disable Klarna anytime in your Stripe Dashboard settings. Or, send a ticket to the Neo development team and they’ll happily provide you with more information on how to do this.
